About the Client

Kenny Buck is a Chicago-based tattoo artist working out of an established shop. Though he had a link to a page of his own on the shop's website, he wanted a website to call his own, in order to market himself independently.

Challenges & Goals:

Kenny wanted a site that embodied his styles of tattoo art and had an edge to it, but didn't look like all the others he'd come across. He wanted to avoid dark designs, Flash and anything that would stand in the way of anyone finding his site locally via mobile devices. A bold, colorful tattoo website design that still had touches of 'horror' to it with a highly usable photo gallery was exactly what Kenny was looking for.

Outcome:

The site launched in May 2011. While full mobile accessibility wasn't part of the project, we ensured that his site would render as uniformly as possible on major devices such as the iPhone, etc. His tattoo portfolio and tattoo flash galleries are fast-loading and none are Flash-based, making them viewable across browsers and platforms. Basic local search optimization was performed, with the challenge of working out of someone else's address hindering us from going really in-depth. However, the site is primed for advanced local search work once he flies solo. Other SEO tactics were implemented to ensure good performance in search engines.

Killer Crew:
