About the Client

David de Lara is an Austin, Texas based artist and photographer. For more than a decade he has created original artwork of women that has been described as sensual, edgy, and provocative with an air of mystery. His work has been exhibited throughout Texas and nationally.

Challenges & Goals:

David wanted what all successful artists want: the freedom to practice his art, present it in a stylish and accessible mode online and encourage visitors to purchase his art. He wanted to develop a web presence as both an artist and content curator, to encourage communication and sharing about his work and communications via News and Blog posts, both onsite and off. After initial search marketing and reputation management consultation, we developed a site design that built on his previous work online, and took the previous design to a whole new level of aesthetic style and social engagement.

Outcome:

We created cleanly coded, aesthetic galleries for his imagery and videos, allowing visitors to find and interact with his many media forms easily.  On his home page, he wanted a way to show a selection of his work and current services and specials.  The home page slider cycles through several images that he can easily insert and remove via an easy to use admin area and the home page itself incorporates show announcements and other recent news items.

David wanted to integrate easier sharing of his artwork for sale, so we included links to purchase his prints or original artwork within the lightbox of each art piece, making it easier for interested buyers to buy a custom print in as few clicks as possible.

We also streamlined his various e-commerce areas to make purchasing his art and books easier for visitors.

We wanted to assure visitors that he has a satisfied client base to encourage appointments for commissioned art or photography sessions, so testimonials were added as a page in the site, and also as a sidebar widget, so a randomized testimonial shows up on each page.

A Google-based social and event calendar area was added so that he could more easily inform his fans of upcoming events, but also allow fans to subscribe to his calendar via Google.

David was also able to participate in the site design with his illustrative and design talents, making this project a literal team effort, and we had a blast doing it!
